Deportation And Removal

If you are in detention and/or have been served with a Notice to Appear, the first thought is that you will be deported back to your country.

Currently, the USCIS refers to deportation from the United States as “Removal”. There are many types of defenses to Removal.  They include cancellation of removal (formerly suspension and 212(c) relief), suspension of deportation, adjustment of status, waiver of inadmissibility, waiver of removal, asylum, withholding of removal, Convention Against Torture (CAT), deferral of removal, legalization and registry, voluntary departure, waiver of inadmissibility and waiver of removal.  In some cases, 212(c) relief, although no longer law, is still available.  To learn more about reief from removal, pelase click on the links on the right menu.
