The purpose of registry is to create a record of lawful entry for those aliens who do not have a record of lawful admission.

You may adjust your status to that of Lawful Permanent Resident in the United States if:  

• You entered the United States prior to January 1, 1972;

• You have resided in the United States continuously since such entry

• You are a person of good moral character; and

• You are not ineligible to citizenship and are not deportable under section 237(a)(4)(B) (ground of terrorist activities).
